How Art Helps the World

Issue #1
Many people think of art, especially original paintings and such, as a luxury they can't afford. Or perhaps they just don't get its significance in their lives and in our world. Well, here in this blog post I am going to attempt to explain why art is an unrecognized humanneed AND a way to change the world--a way for us ALL to give rise to the higher self within us all and thus create a better world!

Are you ready for some deep stuff about art? Well, for starters, to own, create, or view art is NOT a luxury or perk in this world. In my view, it is a necessity! It comes from a deep human need to express what lies within, with a message to share! Each artwork has a message if you pay attention. And perhaps a work of art can reach deep into one's soul to spark knowings and growings beyond what a million words or opinions could ever do.

An original painting, sculpture, or craft item, created with love and passion flowing from a deep place within is perhaps the most direct and intimate way one can benefit from a piece of art. Such art is labored over with great abandon and intensity, with the muse sitting upon the artist's shoulder while she/he works! It carries with it the vibrations of that artist, the message he or she wishes to deliver. And if the intent of the artist is not to simply make money but rather to convey beauty and evoke higher thought and impulses, then we have something that can change the world.

Sometimes that message is blatant and overt, a purveyance of striking beauty or a message of how we humans care for one another or of our longing for higher ground. Sometimes a piece is designed to evoke contemplation on the part of the viewer or owner of the piece, to reach deep into the soul and retrieve deep understandings that we thought were lost to us. This is direct contact with the soul of a sensitive being, my friends...the artist-creator of that work of art. It is sharing on a very deep level, the essence of who we are and who we wish to become.

A little less direct are prints and other reproductions of an artist's original work. Or it could be their images imprinted, sometimes with uplifting words added, onto gift items, clothing, accessories, jewelry, and items of home decor. These also have their function, not only in adding beauty to our immediate environment (a world-changer to be sure!), but also have the same attribute of sharing an uplifting message and evoking higher thought and intent. An example of wearing art might be a T-shirt or other apparel imprinted with an uplifting slogan and lovely art, such as my image that I have posted here. No well-intended effort or thought or bit of beauty returns void. That is simply how the world works.

So I encourage you all to "get your art on," whether you are a purchaser or collector of art, an artist creating beauty with a message (beauty carries its OWN message); if you are someone who wants to hang beauty on the walls of office or home; to wear beautiful art on clothing or jewelry; or to carry it around with you as an accessory, thus offering portals and glimpses of the message and inner, higher self of the artist, of the viewer, of all humanity, and all of sentient creation.

I came to art by way of my inner search to know myself, and then also by necessity when I could no longer follow my former career as a nurse due to disability. It saved me and uplifted me. It began a healing process within me, this passion to create! I didn't even know I had it in me. But pursuing my art taught me something. We ALL have this in us in one form or another, whether we create art or simply behold it and share it. I encourage you to think of art in all its myriad forms not as a luxury, but as a necessity, a portal, part of the process of lifting humanity out of the abyss of divisive politics, economic stresses, the rat race, and unharmonious conditions that confront us daily in our world.

Art can uplift and unify! Of this I have no doubt. So please, I encourage you to participate, my readers, as creators and purveyors of art in all its many forms. As within, so without, is an almost universally recognized principle of how things work. We can create a better world from what flows from within us. Art is a very important way to facilitate this flow.

Let's get our art on, whether we are creating or purchasing/displaying. It's a good thing to do. YOU and I CAN make a difference.
